Mallikarjuna Theatre Hyderabad earned a genuine mark of distinction in December 2023 — when the Telangana government approved special 1 AM release-day shows for the blockbuster Salaar, this Kukatpally single screen was one of just 20 theatres selected across the entire state, sitting alongside legendary names like Sandhya 70MM and Gokul Theatre. That’s the kind of company Mallikarjuna keeps, and with over 13,750 reviews backing a strong 4.2 rating, it’s clearly earned its place among Hyderabad’s genuine mass-release destinations.

Approved for Special Shows Alongside Hyderabad’s Biggest Names
This is genuinely worth understanding, since it says something real about the theatre’s standing in the city’s cinema circuit. When Salaar released with special 1 AM shows across Hyderabad, the Telangana government’s approved list included just four Kukatpally theatres — Brahmaramba, Mallikarjuna, Arjun, and Viswanath — alongside major venues like Nexus Mall, AMB Cinemas, Sandhya 70MM, Sandhya Theatre 35MM, Sriramulu Theatre, Gokul Theatre, and Sri Sai Ram Theatre, all covered elsewhere in this guide series. Being selected for that kind of state-sanctioned major-release event places Mallikarjuna firmly among Hyderabad’s genuinely significant single screens, not just a neighbourhood also-ran.

What Mallikarjuna Theatre Hyderabad Gets Right — and Where It Falls Short
A 4.2 rating from close to 13,760 reviews is a strong result, and it’s worth understanding what’s driving that number alongside a few genuine concerns worth knowing before you visit.
What visitors consistently appreciate:
- A good sound system, with surround sound and DTS specifically praised
- Ticket prices are consistently described as reasonable, a genuine value factor for regular moviegoers
- Being part of Kukatpally’s cinema circuit and included in major state-approved special release events reflects genuine local significance
What consistently draws criticism:
- Ventilation, air conditioning, and fans are flagged as inadequate by multiple reviewers
- General maintenance has drawn complaints, including uncomfortable seating and wall reflections that affect visibility
- Staff behaviour has been criticised, including allegations of tickets being sold above face value
- Customer service more broadly has drawn some negative feedback
This is a theatre that seems to deliver strongly on sound quality and affordable pricing, and clearly has enough draw to be part of major special-release events, while showing real wear in terms of comfort, ventilation, and staff interactions. If you’re going in prioritising sound and value over pristine comfort, and booking online in advance to avoid any counter pricing issues, you’re likely to have a solid experience.
Mallikarjuna Theatre Hyderabad Ticket Price
Visitor feedback consistently describes ticket pricing as reasonable, positioning the theatre as an accessible option in Kukatpally. No officially published, fixed rate card was available across current platforms, so treat “reasonable” as a general positioning rather than an exact figure.
- Standard ticket pricing is generally viewed as accessible relative to Hyderabad multiplex rates
- Given the reported concerns about tickets being sold above face value, booking online in advance through a live platform is a sensible precaution, particularly for major releases
- For the exact current rate on a specific show, checking a live booking platform before you head out is the most reliable way to confirm
Mallikarjuna Theatre Hyderabad Show Timings
No fixed, permanent daily schedule is published for the theatre, which is standard for a single screen where the lineup shifts based on which films are currently running. As demonstrated by the Salaar special shows, the theatre is also capable of running unusual, government-approved timings for major releases when demand calls for it.
- Expect the usual pattern of morning, afternoon, evening, and night shows through the day
- Big new Telugu releases typically bring the fullest, most frequent showings, and occasionally special early-morning slots for major openings
- Checking a live listing before heading out remains the most dependable way to confirm the actual current schedule
Planning Your Visit
- Book online in advance rather than relying on the counter, given reported concerns about above-face-value ticket selling
- If ventilation and AC comfort matter to you, especially during warmer months, checking recent reviews closer to your visit date is a sensible precaution
- Given the theatre’s strong sound system reputation, it’s a solid choice if audio quality is your priority
- For major releases, keep an eye on whether special early shows are announced, as they have been for significant past openings
